Very good book. It’s a quick read. I finished it in 1 day.

Things that bring me satisfcation at work

  • Team environment; working with others
  • Meeting goals and deadlines
  • Doing something that matters/add value to the customer
  • Organizing information
  • Making people’s lives easier.

Translate into strengths

  • Work with others to make sure team is giving its best and creating synergy
  • Results-oriented individual
  • Passionate about job.
  • Will organize information and processes to make things easier for the next person.  Saves costs.

This is an exercise I did from the book, Secrets of Six-Figure Women by Barbara Stanny.  This is a great book.  I would advise anyone who wants to make more money but think they need a certain education level or that it comes with hard conditions to read this book.

Top values: (1) God, (2)Love, (3) Family, (4) Health, (5) Integrity and Community, Leaving a Legacy, Peace, Security, Spirituality

Acomplishment in H.S.: Very good at field hockey. Why?  Recognized for accomplishment. Team sport. Came into my own as a young woman. Decided what type of lady I wanted to be.

Accomplishment in college: Learned perserverance and how hard work pays off. Proud of my interships b/c I refused to have to work 3 jobs ever again. Travelled and met people. Enjoyed college life.

Accomplishment b/t 21-25:  Lived overseas. Tried something that was completely foreign to me, literally. Enjoyed life socially as well. Moved to Atlanta.

Accomplishment b/t 26-30: Got my MBA.I feel like I proved to myself and others that I could do it. Also offered security as it was a back-up plan.  Bought a house. While it was scary, it was one of the best decisions I made.

Accomplishment b/t 30-35: Quit my job, took a 3-4 month sabbatical and relocated back up north.  Got rid of a need for a security net.Biggest risk I’ve taken. Felt very free.Enjoyed time at BMGCH. Really felt like I could create my own path to ensure the success of projects.  Felt like I added value when I created processes that people used.

Accountability

Why is that when it comes to business and money I can be accountable to others but not to myself.  I can work hard on the regular j-o-b but ask me when is the last time that I worked on my business. It’s been 2 weeks but I’ve worked overtime on my day job.  I wonder if others face the same.

On top of that I recently hired an accountant. Not for the business, but for my own personal bills.  Living in NY has caused me to have a very tight budget. I can’t afford to make mistakes. So I reasoned it’s worth it to pay someone $60-$75 dollars a month when they can save me from needlessly spending $100s of dollars.  The same goes for the financial planner.

If I take time to think about this, I was taught that my parents that money was a chore.  It wasn’t an enjoyable thing.  When you are making $$ it can be wonderful, managing it? completely different.

Here’s where I start focusing on abundance. “I have more $$ than I will every need”. “God will provide all my needs”. The last one is especially good for when I’m broke.  ;-)

While it may not be all over the news, it is still a tragic incident as well as a touchy subject.  Bishop THomas beat his wife, Pastor Bynum, in Atlanta, recently. Then he preaches on Sunday and blames it on the devil. While I think he took a cowardly way out, why do we think that the pastor must be perfect in order to preach from the pulpit?  I think that is why people are discouraged by the church. They are expecting perfect people and are disheartened when they see flawed people.  The church is not perfect, but they are an organization of believers trying to strive better things.

I hope Pastor Thomas will admit to himself that he is only to blame for his actions or if nothing else the devil in side of him.  For the quote goes, “let the God in me be greater than me”.  My question is that if it isn’t, then what is left?

Benefits of Detox

So, to date here are all the things that I have found to have been a benefit of the detox.

1.Food tastes sooo much better. I don’t want to go back to processed foods. What are we eating if our food has no flavor? !

2. McDonald’s fries don’t taste as good. (While I find this disturbing since I loved them so, I’m glad because I know they are bad for me. The trick is to finding ‘healthier fast food’. Can I say KFC? SUbway? Any ideas?

3. I feel better.  I feel lighter. This is partly due to the natural purgatives, but it was necessary.I had too much junk in my trunk [of body, i.e belly].

4. I’m exercising more.

5. I’m more productive. My physical cleansing spilled over into my lifestyle. I’m more organized and am keeping up on papers a lot better. I make my bed every day, not just pull it up the way I used to.

6? Stay tuned….I’m sure i’ll discover another.

Speed

I have found that an important factor in business is one that was most eloquently stated by Tom Cruise in the the movie, ‘TOP GUN.’

“I feel the need, the need for SPEED!”

‘Speed’ is the velocity at which ideas move. ‘Urgency’ describes the emotion behind the time table. You ever notice how quickly ideas flash across your mind? You ever notice how quickly ideas that you have had show up in the market? Or perhaps you find out that someone else has the same idea. No worries, just move faster!

Ideas belong to no one. They exist in the mental reservoir shared and shared alike, ready for the taking, ready for implementation. The reason that ideas need to be implemented quickly, with urgency, is because there is an emotional content that propels the idea as it first ‘lights’ up in your mind. Most people cannot always hold onto or remember that moment of clarity, enlightenment, the feeling of being aware and present. Without speed where necessary, growth is dragged along. Therefore, often, good ideas are not harnessed. Instead, they fall by the way side and our lives remain the same. Actually, more accurately, unused ideas are quickly drawn in flight to someone else who is generating similar thought and attracting similar ideas, ultimately to someone who will put the idea into effect.

So, move quickly as possible on your good ideas, with purpose, and a sense of urgency, emotionally inspired. The only time we have is now. And to live in this now moment, or live in this light-speed information age, or to be first to market, or to be the early bird that gets the worm, or even to stay emotionally motivated, requires us moving as quickly as our ideas. It requires speed!

Junk Food Sucks!

Junk food sucks…

We know this, despite its name, only after having eaten it…

… yet again. [LOL]

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Peter Jennings - ‘How to Get Fat Without Really Trying’

Tomorrow is my first business meeting with SCORE.  I’m somewhat nervous. I am really not sure what to expect, but I think in all the meeting will helpful. I’ve completed my business plan.  I just need to make a couple of tweaks to it tomorrow and I should be good to go.    Now that I think about it more, I think I might need to bind it so it’s a more professional presentation.  Well, gotta go so I can wake up early and take care of that.

I discovered another quick plus for detoxing.  I was using too much sugar in drinks.  this weekend I got a peppermint mocha from Starbucks and did not put in any sugar, because it was sweet enough.  Previously, I would have added sugar to it.

Okay.  I can’t take credit for this one.  I was watching Joel Osteen yesterday morning and  he said he does the following on a daily basis.

He takes 3 breaths and says:

(1st breath) “Inhale confidence. Exhale Fear.”

(2nd breath) “Inhale healing. Exhale sickness.”

(3rd breath) “Inhale victory. Exhale defeat.”
